S Joseph Cottolengo Centre

OUR VISION
“Building of a New Humanity, Based on Love,
Friendship and Hope in an Everlasting Life”

OUR MISSION
Taking care and protection of the physically and mentally handicapped young men, who are abandoned and neglected, because in them we recognize the presence of Christ.
THE COTTOLENGO CENTRE
St. Joseph Cottolengo Centre is a faith based institution, under the provision of Divine Providence, its spirit is the charity of Christ and at the centre of its activities are the poor. Our purpose is to take care of the disabled young men who are abandoned, because in them we recognize Christ. The Centre cares for young men who have mental and physical disabilities. The Centre is located at Chaaria Parish which is about 20 Kilometres from Meru town. It was started in 1986 and its official opening was on Easter Monday of the same year with only 7 disabled young men who had grown up and, consequently, had become too heavy to be cared for by Cottolengo sisters only.
Presently, the Centre shelters 50 handicapped young men and it is filled to its capacity. We wish to keep this number of handicapped young men knowing that this service is much required; and we firmly believe that our Centre offers important testimony to the society about the sacred value of human life and promotion of human dignity.
The services offered at Cottolengo Centre include:
  • Hospice
  • Catechism
  • Special School
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Amenity
