Chaaria-Poland

We are very happy to welcome two new volunteers from Poland, who are continuing the ongoing cooperation between Chaaria and that Country.
They are Matheus and Ania.
Matheus, who is a language teacher and, apart from English, knows Italian and Kiswahili quite well, will be working with the mentally challenged of our Centre and will cooperate with the activities of the hospital as well, as a translator.
Ania is a medical doctor, very fluent in English, and therefore extremely useful in our set-up.
She has already started her service with dedication and commitment in the female word, cooperating with Dr Guidobaldi from Italy, who in charge of the male side.
Ania and Matheus will be with us for 3 months and we are sure they will be of a very great help for the Mission and for the Hospital.
I am personally very grateful to the local Superior of our community, Bro Roberto Trappa who has agreed and supported the coming of the two new Polish friends.
Making the volunteers’ mouvement a bit more international is very nice and encouraging for Chaaria, and I am very happy of that because it will also contribute to further spreading the Cottolengo spirituality.

Chaaria è un sogno da realizzare giorno per giorno.

Un luogo in cui vorrei che tutti i poveri e gli ammalati venissero accolti e curati.

Vorrei poter fare di più per questa gente, che non ha nulla e soffre per malattie facilmente curabili, se solo ci fossero i mezzi.

Vorrei smetterla di dire “vai altrove, perché non possiamo curarti”.

Anche perché andare altrove, qui, vuol dire aggiungere altra fatica, altro sudore, altro dolore, per uomini, donne e bambini che hanno già camminato per giorni interi.

E poi, andare dove?

Gli ospedali pubblici hanno poche medicine, quelli privati sono troppo costosi.

Ecco perché penso, ostinatamente, che il nostro ospedale sia un segno di speranza per questa gente. Non ci sarà tutto, ma facciamo il possibile. Anzi, l’impossibile.

Quello che mi muove, che ci muove, è la carità verso l’altro, verso tutti. Nessuno escluso.

Gesù ci ha detto di essere presenti nel più piccolo e nel più diseredato.

Questo è quello che facciamo, ogni giorno.
