Mateusz and Ania

Nothing lasts for ever in this world, and the time has come for me to greet Mateusz and Ania, after 3 months of good service here in Chaaria. 
I personally thank Ania very much for her humility, and for the great love she has always shown to our patients in the wards. 
I have appreciated her cooperation and I will really miss her. I am sure the same will apply to our staff and to the sick people. 
I wish Ania all the best for her future and for the career she will choose after the specialization.
And then, I thank Mateusz for the many services he has rendered to our Mission: he has worked either as translator in the hospital, or as staff of the center for the mentally challenged. The boys of our centre will miss him a lot. 
They will be always in our prayers and we wish them all the best for the last part of their project in Africa, before going back to Poland. 
I am sure they will talk of Chaaria in their own Country and we will still enjoy the cooperation of other good Polish doctors in the years to come.

Chaaria è un sogno da realizzare giorno per giorno.

Un luogo in cui vorrei che tutti i poveri e gli ammalati venissero accolti e curati.

Vorrei poter fare di più per questa gente, che non ha nulla e soffre per malattie facilmente curabili, se solo ci fossero i mezzi.

Vorrei smetterla di dire “vai altrove, perché non possiamo curarti”.

Anche perché andare altrove, qui, vuol dire aggiungere altra fatica, altro sudore, altro dolore, per uomini, donne e bambini che hanno già camminato per giorni interi.

E poi, andare dove?

Gli ospedali pubblici hanno poche medicine, quelli privati sono troppo costosi.

Ecco perché penso, ostinatamente, che il nostro ospedale sia un segno di speranza per questa gente. Non ci sarà tutto, ma facciamo il possibile. Anzi, l’impossibile.

Quello che mi muove, che ci muove, è la carità verso l’altro, verso tutti. Nessuno escluso.

Gesù ci ha detto di essere presenti nel più piccolo e nel più diseredato.

Questo è quello che facciamo, ogni giorno.
