Ola and Ula from Poland

We wish to thank them very much for the time they have spent here in Chaaria with us.
Ola and Ula have now gone back to Poland to continue with their specializations after a month of committed service as general practitioners in our general wards.
I am always very happy of the continuous collaboration between Poland and Chaaria, and I wish many more Polish volunteers will be able to join us in future. 
In July we will have in fact another doctor from there, to continue our nice relationship of service.
So far from Poland I have got only young doctors who come after internship and before starting their specializations: I hope in future we will be able to get also specialists and surgeons from that Country.
Nevertheless we realize every day how international is the volunteering in Chaaria nowadays. In the near future we will have doctors from Switzerland and Holland, while at the moment we have here
more volunteers from abroad than from Italy: actually we have now 6 Canadians and 1 British.
That is for me very nice and a sign of our global appeal.
Again I wish all the best to Ola and Ula, and I promise them my prayer for all their future endeavors.

Chaaria è un sogno da realizzare giorno per giorno.

Un luogo in cui vorrei che tutti i poveri e gli ammalati venissero accolti e curati.

Vorrei poter fare di più per questa gente, che non ha nulla e soffre per malattie facilmente curabili, se solo ci fossero i mezzi.

Vorrei smetterla di dire “vai altrove, perché non possiamo curarti”.

Anche perché andare altrove, qui, vuol dire aggiungere altra fatica, altro sudore, altro dolore, per uomini, donne e bambini che hanno già camminato per giorni interi.

E poi, andare dove?

Gli ospedali pubblici hanno poche medicine, quelli privati sono troppo costosi.

Ecco perché penso, ostinatamente, che il nostro ospedale sia un segno di speranza per questa gente. Non ci sarà tutto, ma facciamo il possibile. Anzi, l’impossibile.

Quello che mi muove, che ci muove, è la carità verso l’altro, verso tutti. Nessuno escluso.

Gesù ci ha detto di essere presenti nel più piccolo e nel più diseredato.

Questo è quello che facciamo, ogni giorno.
