African time sometimes means... very quickly

Do you remember the many photos we have put on the blog on 1st of June about the transport of the big generator to the new site? That day we have covered it with a nylon canvas to prevent it being spoilt by possible rains. Then we were to build the new house for it as soon as possible.
We have really done it very quickly.
Check at the photos taken yesterday. Eleven days after we have already completed the layers of stones; tomorrow the masons will start the preparation of the lintel, and we will be roofing soon.
We have also started the preparation of the new electricity cables connecting the mains to the new generator, which will not start automatically but manually.
Actually we intend to use it as a back up for the existing one, when the needs for power overwhelm its possibilities or when we want it to cool and rest.
Again we wish to thank Divine Providence, the Little House and the friends from Cagliari for this important gift which will help us face our power shortages.

Chaaria è un sogno da realizzare giorno per giorno.

Un luogo in cui vorrei che tutti i poveri e gli ammalati venissero accolti e curati.

Vorrei poter fare di più per questa gente, che non ha nulla e soffre per malattie facilmente curabili, se solo ci fossero i mezzi.

Vorrei smetterla di dire “vai altrove, perché non possiamo curarti”.

Anche perché andare altrove, qui, vuol dire aggiungere altra fatica, altro sudore, altro dolore, per uomini, donne e bambini che hanno già camminato per giorni interi.

E poi, andare dove?

Gli ospedali pubblici hanno poche medicine, quelli privati sono troppo costosi.

Ecco perché penso, ostinatamente, che il nostro ospedale sia un segno di speranza per questa gente. Non ci sarà tutto, ma facciamo il possibile. Anzi, l’impossibile.

Quello che mi muove, che ci muove, è la carità verso l’altro, verso tutti. Nessuno escluso.

Gesù ci ha detto di essere presenti nel più piccolo e nel più diseredato.

Questo è quello che facciamo, ogni giorno.
