Lincoln from New York

We are extremely happy to have welcomed Dr Lincoln from New York. He is an internal medicine doctor, and he comes to help us at the right moment, when we have an extreme need above all in the general ward. 
Dr Lincoln Heath is the first volunteer we from the USA, and I find it to be a very important achievement for the Cottolengo Mission Hospital, now widely known even beyond the Atlantic Ocean. 
Actually Lincoln has come to know Chaaria through other friends we have in America. He has in fact studied Medicine in Canada, and he has been in touch with Ted and Ed, the coordinators of the Mikinduri Children of Hope, and great friends of Chaaria. 
He will be working with us for the whole month, and then he will join the medical camp of the Canadian doctors in Mikinduri, during the month of February. 
I am personally very proud to have here Ania from Poland and Lincoln from the USA on top of a group of doctors from Italy. 
It makes us experience the universality of our message of love, service and donation.

Chaaria è un sogno da realizzare giorno per giorno.

Un luogo in cui vorrei che tutti i poveri e gli ammalati venissero accolti e curati.

Vorrei poter fare di più per questa gente, che non ha nulla e soffre per malattie facilmente curabili, se solo ci fossero i mezzi.

Vorrei smetterla di dire “vai altrove, perché non possiamo curarti”.

Anche perché andare altrove, qui, vuol dire aggiungere altra fatica, altro sudore, altro dolore, per uomini, donne e bambini che hanno già camminato per giorni interi.

E poi, andare dove?

Gli ospedali pubblici hanno poche medicine, quelli privati sono troppo costosi.

Ecco perché penso, ostinatamente, che il nostro ospedale sia un segno di speranza per questa gente. Non ci sarà tutto, ma facciamo il possibile. Anzi, l’impossibile.

Quello che mi muove, che ci muove, è la carità verso l’altro, verso tutti. Nessuno escluso.

Gesù ci ha detto di essere presenti nel più piccolo e nel più diseredato.

Questo è quello che facciamo, ogni giorno.
