After three weeks of very intense service in our theater, today we have greeted Dr Michelle Hammer who goes back home in England.
Michelle is a senior consultant anesthetist from Kent,and, for the second time in as many years, she has worked as a volunteer here in Chaaria.
She has been with us while we were trying to cope with the huge number of patients flocking to Chaaria because of the orthopedic camp organized by Dr Luciano and Toto. The timetable has been always very demanding, from very early in the morning to late in the evening, but Michelle has been committed and very generous, never refusing her collaboration…even for the night calls.
Apart from the daily work, Michelle has also improved our anesthetic standards: she has been teaching new concepts to our staff Mbabu and Jesse and she has given us many new tools and instruments she has generously bought for us. To her we promise to keep it up and to continue improving our anesthesiology department.
We really appreciate what Michelle has done for us and we sincerely hope she will be able to come again next year: I will really try to make sure that Michelle will be here when we have some senior surgeon performing major surgeries. In fact she is extremely good for general anesthesia.
For now we leave everything to God and again we express our heartfelt gratitude to her.
Safe journey back to the UK, dear Michelle!
