"A step away from the heart"



Dear Brother Beppe,
after a long journey the dream has become true! 
Your book – the title is “A step away from the heart” – has been published.
It’s your story in Chaaria, the joys and the challenges that you have experienced during these years. 
It’s the story of our service in Chaaria. 
It’s the story of so many patients attended in our hospital. It’ our story!
Let us be proud of you! We congratulate you for this achievement.
It’s an honor for all of us to have you as our MOH and director. Under your guide, we are sure that we’ll continue to work in a good environment and we’ll be able to look at the future with hope and gratitude.
Only God can reward you for all what you have done for the poor and for each one of us!
Be sure of our prayer and our esteem.
We look forward for the English translation!

Chaaria è un sogno da realizzare giorno per giorno.

Un luogo in cui vorrei che tutti i poveri e gli ammalati venissero accolti e curati.

Vorrei poter fare di più per questa gente, che non ha nulla e soffre per malattie facilmente curabili, se solo ci fossero i mezzi.

Vorrei smetterla di dire “vai altrove, perché non possiamo curarti”.

Anche perché andare altrove, qui, vuol dire aggiungere altra fatica, altro sudore, altro dolore, per uomini, donne e bambini che hanno già camminato per giorni interi.

E poi, andare dove?

Gli ospedali pubblici hanno poche medicine, quelli privati sono troppo costosi.

Ecco perché penso, ostinatamente, che il nostro ospedale sia un segno di speranza per questa gente. Non ci sarà tutto, ma facciamo il possibile. Anzi, l’impossibile.

Quello che mi muove, che ci muove, è la carità verso l’altro, verso tutti. Nessuno escluso.

Gesù ci ha detto di essere presenti nel più piccolo e nel più diseredato.

Questo è quello che facciamo, ogni giorno.
