Although no case of Ebola has been reported in the Country, the Government of Kenya, through the Ministry of Health considers the issue of Ebola a national priority.
On top of the measures already put in place and of which I have given previous communication on the blog and on facebook, the Government has now organized nationwide seminars aimed at creating awareness and preparedness among health workers, in the unfortunate event of a future epidemic.
Last week a seminar has been held in Embu, and Cottolengo Mission Hospital has been invited to attend.
We have chosen our Clinical Officer Jonah Gitobu Mworia to join the event, with the specific duty of coming back to Chaaria and to disseminate the information he got to all the other staff members during our thursday classes. The staff members will thereafter create awareness among the patients attending our hospital.
I know Jonah to be a very good teacher and I am sure he will perform the duty perfectly.
I am very grateful to the County Government of Meru, and particularly to Dr Wangombe of the disease control department, for calling me personally and officially inviting Chaaria Mission Hospital to the event.
I have repeated to Dr Wangombe that we are very willing to collaborate with the Goverment in capacity building, dissemination of information, training of health workers, and whatever the Country will need from us, even in the current Ebola crisis.
